  1. MR JUSTICE CHARLES: What I will do is I will give you the extension that you seek -- and I take your point that it is not that onerous given that she is working under supervision -- but given that she was seeking an adjournment and she is not here, I will give her liberty to apply to vary or discharge without change of circumstances upon her giving you 5 working days' notice with her grounds.
  2. MR PRETTY: Just knowing the way the organisation works and that 5 days' notice may be somewhat limited, may I ask for --
  3. MR JUSTICE CHARLES: That is notice that she is making the application and it will have to be fixed through channels, so you will have plenty of time. But I do not mind her giving 14 days' notice.
  4. MR PRETTY: I would be grateful for 14 days.
  5. MR JUSTICE CHARLES: I will do 14 days. I think that is the way out of the impasse we are now in, in the sense that she may not have appreciated what was happening now and she will have the opportunity, should she wish to, to raise the points that she has raised that there should be no further extensions -- I am not quite sure, truthfully, what they were -- but she can have the opportunity.
  6. Could you send the draft order with those alterations to the associate.
  7. MR PRETTY: I ought to be able to do that. The previous documents may be stored electronically.
  8. MR JUSTICE CHARLES: You have got a draft order, if you could send not that because it is not in the terms I have just made about the extension to the associate but the order that I have made, drafted up, then he will deal with it.
  9. MR PRETTY: My Lord, I will make those arrangements.
  10. MR JUSTICE CHARLES: I would also be grateful if those instructing you would notify the nurse as to what has happened, and the court will send her a copy of the order.
