| | Special Order made by the Irish Insurance Commissioners, with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health and with the approval of the Minister for Finance, under the proviso to sub-section (2) of Section 1 of the National Insurance Act, 1911.

| | Dated 22nd day of July, 1931.
|
| | WHEREAS, by virtue of sub-section (2) of Section 1 of, and Part II. (i) of the First Schedule to, the National Insurance Act, 1911 (in this Order called " the principal Act "), persons engaged in employment of any class which may be specified in a Special Order made under the Act as being of such a nature that it is ordinarily adopted as subsidiary employment only and not as the principal means of livelihood, are not persons employed within the meaning of Part I. of the Act;

| | AND WHEREAS, by the National Health Insurance (Subsidiary Employments) Consolidated Order (Ireland), 1914 (No. 418 of 1915), the class of employment set forth in the First Schedule to this Order is specified as being of such a nature that it is ordinarily adopted as subsidiary employment only and not as the principal means of livelihood ;

| | AND WHEREAS, by virtue of the proviso to sub-section (2) of Section 1, read with Section 81 of the principal Act, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, the Irish Insurance Commissioners may, with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health and with the approval of the Minister for Finance, by a Special Order provide for including amongst persons employed within the meaning of Part I of the principal Act any persons engaged in any of the excepted employments specified in Part II of the First Schedule to the principal Act, either unconditionally or subject to such conditions as may be specified in the Order;

| | AND WHEREAS, by Section 40 of the National Insurance Act, 1913, any Special Orders made under the principal Act may be revoked, varied, or amended by a Special Order made in like manner as the original Order;

| | AND WHEREAS the Irish Insurance Commissioners are desirous of amending the Order hereinbefore mentioned and of making the Order hereinafter contained;
|
| | 1. Now, therefore, the Irish Insurance Commissioners, in pursuance of the powers conferred on them by the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1929, with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health and with the approval of the Minister for Finance, hereby order as follows :—
|
| | Persons engaged in the class of employment specified in the Second Schedule hereto under the conditions therein mentioned shall be included amongst the persons employed within the meaning of Part I of the principal Act.
|
| | 2. This Order may be cited as the National Health Insurance (Subsidiary Employments) Order, 1931.
|
| | Given under the Official Seal of the Irish Insurance Commissioners this 22nd day of July, in the year One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-One.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
|
| | (Class of employment which has been specified in the National Health Insurance (Subsidiary Employments) Consolidated Order (Ireland), 1914, as being of a subsidiary nature and therefore excluded from being employment within the meaning of Part I of the principal Act.)
|
| | Employment as a member of the crew of a lifeboat.
|
| | |

SECOND SCHEDULE.
|
| | (Conditions under which persons engaged in the class of employment specified in the First Schedule are included amongst the persons employed within the meaning of Part I of the principal Act.)
|
| | Any person employed as a member of the crew of a lifeboat where the employment involves wholetime service.
|
| |
|
