MAIZE MEAL MIXTURE (INDICATION OF WEIGHT OF COMPONENT PARTS) REGULATIONS, 1936.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section 5 of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1936 (No. 30 of 1936), that the Minister for Agriculture may by order make regulations in relation to any matter or thing referred to in the said Act as prescribed:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 31 of the said Act that on and after the appointed day it shall not be lawful for any person to sell or offer for sale any maize meal mixture unless the following conditions are complied with, that is to say:—

(a) such maize meal mixture is contained in a package and there is printed on such package or on a label securely fixed thereto the name and address of the manufacturer, and

(b) if the weight of maize meal mixture is one hundredweight or more, there is indicated in the prescribed manner on such package particulars of the percentage by weight of each of the component parts of such mixture:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (3) of the said section 31 that regulations made by the said Minister by virtue of section 83 of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1933 (No. 7 of 1933) and in force immediately before the appointed day shall be deemed to have been made by virtue of the said section 31 and may be amended or revoked by regulations made by the said Minister by virtue of the said section 31:

NOW, I, Séamas O Riain, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1936 (No. 30 of 1936), and every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order and make the following regulations, that is to say:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Maize Meal Mixture (Indication of Weight of Component Parts) Regulations, 1936.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1937.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of these Regulations in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. For the purposes of paragraph (b) of sub-section (1) of section 31 of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1936 (No. 30 of 1936), particulars of the percentage by weight of each of the component parts of a maize meal mixture shall be given on a label securely affixed to the package.

4. Paragraph 11 of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) (Wheat Growing and Feeding Stuffs) Regulations, 1933 (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 57 of 1933), is hereby revoked.
