SLAUGHTER OF CATTLE AND SHEEP (APPLICATION FOR MANUFACTURING LICENCES) REGULATIONS, 1937.

SLAUGHTER OF CATTLE AND SHEEP (APPLICATION FOR MANUFACTURING LICENCES) REGULATIONS, 1937.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 (No. 42 of 1934), that the Minister for Agriculture may by order make regulations prescribing any matter or thing which is referred to in the said Act as prescribed or to be prescribed :

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 34 of the said Act that the said Minister may, on the application of any person in the prescribed form and manner, grant to such person a licence (in the said Act referred to as a manufacturing licence) to carry on a specified business the carrying on of which without such licence is prohibited by Part VII of the said Act :

NOW, I, SÉAMAS O RIAIN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 (No. 42 of 1934), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do by this Order make the following regulations, that is to say :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep (Application for Manufacturing Licences) Regulations, 1937.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of these Regulations in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. Every application for a manufacturing licence under Section 34 of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 (No. 42 of 1934), shall be made in the form set out in the Schedule to this Order and shall be sent by post or delivered to " The Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Dublin."

NOTE.—Section 33 (1) in Part VII of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 , provides that no person shall carry on, otherwise than under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf granted to him under the said Part VII, the business of preparing for sale for human consumption meat preserved and intended to be sold in a barrel, tin, jar or other container, or the business of manufacturing or preparing for sale for human consumption any essence, extract or other preparation (whether liquid or solid) derived wholly or mainly from meat or both of those businesses.

For the purpose of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 , " meat " means meat derived from cattle or from sheep and includes all edible parts of the carcases of cattle and sheep.
