CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 1, TWELFTH PERIOD) ORDER, 1939. | ||
WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (2) of section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, that so long as any particular quota order is in force, the Government shall, during and not less than one month before the end of every quota period under such quota order, by order— | ||
(a) appoint a period (beginning at the expiration of the said quota period) to be the next quota period under such quota order, and | ||
(b) appoint a specified quantity of goods to which such quota order applies to be the quota for the purposes of the said Act in respect of the said next quota period: | ||
AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1, Eleventh Period) Order, 1939 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 33 of 1939), the period beginning on the 1st day of April, 1939, and ending on the 30th day of September, 1939, was appointed to be the eleventh quota period under the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) Order, 1934 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 230 of 1934), which (as amended by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) (Amendment No. 2) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 160 of 1935), the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) (Amendment No. 3) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 666 of 1935) and the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) (Amendment No. 4) Order, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 207 of 1937)), relates to certain pneumatic tyres: | ||
AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) (Amendment) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 34 of 1935), the said Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) Order, 1934, was amended by restricting the meaning of the expression "pneumatic tyre" in the last-mentioned Order to outer covers only: | ||
NOW, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by subsection (2) of section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows:— | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1, Twelfth Period) Order, 1939. | ||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. | ||
3. The period beginning on the 1st day of October, 1939, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1940, is hereby appointed to be the twelfth quota period under the Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) Order, 1934 (which (as amended) relates to certain pneumatic tyres). | ||
4. A total amounting to two thousand pneumatic tyres (being pneumatic tyres to which the said Control of Imports (Quota No. 1) Order, 1934 (as amended) relates) shall be the quota in respect of the said twelfth quota period. | ||
