CHILDREN'S ALLOWANCES ACT, 1944 (SECTION 2) ORDER, 1944.

CHILDREN'S ALLOWANCES ACT, 1944 (SECTION 2) ORDER, 1944.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Children's Allowances Act, 1944 (No. 2 of 1944), that the Minister for Industry and Commerce shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the passing of the Act, by order do the following things—

(a) group the State into such and so many areas as he thinks fit and declare each such area to be a region for the purposes of the Act,

(b) appoint a day to be the appointed day for the purposes of the Act,

(c) fix the period (which shall commence on the appointed day) which is to be the first payment period for each region,

and in making the order the Minister may fix first payment periods of different durations for different regions :

NOW I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Children's Allowances Act, 1944 (No. 2 of 1944), hereby order as follows :—

Short title.

1. This Order may be cited as the Children's Allowances Act, 1944 (Section 2) Order, 1944.

the Act.

2. In this Order the expression " the Act " means the Children's Allowances Act, 1944 (No. 2 of 1944).

Regions.

3. The State is hereby grouped into the three areas specified in the second column of the Schedule to this Order and each such area is hereby declared to be a region for the purposes of the Act and is in this Order referred to by the title set out in the first column of the Schedule opposite the mention of that area in the said second column.

Appointed day.

4. The 1st day of August, 1944, shall be the appointed day for the purposes of the Act.

First payment period for each region.

5.—(1) The first payment period for Region No. 1 shall be the period of twenty-six weeks commencing on the appointed day.

(2) The first payment period for Region No. 2 shall be the period of thirty weeks commencing on the appointed day.

(3) The first payment period for Region No. 3 shall be the period of thirty-four weeks commencing on the appointed day.
