SCHOOL ATTENDANCE (DUN LAOGHAIRE BOROUGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE COMMITTEES) ORDER, 1949.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE (DUN LAOGHAIRE BOROUGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE COMMITTEES) ORDER, 1949.

WHEREAS by virtue of section 10 of the School Attendance Act, 1926 (No. 17 of 1926) as amended by section 89 of the Local Government (Dublin) Act, 1930 (No. 27 of 1930), the Minister for Education, after consultation with the Minister for Local Government, may by order prescribe the times and modes of appointment by the council of the Dun Laoghaire borough of members of the school attendance committee for a school attendance area co-terminous with or included in the said borough and the time of commencement of the period of office of the members of such committee :

NOW, the Minister for Education, after consultation with the Minister for Local Government and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 10 of the School Attendance Act, 1926 (No. 17 of 1926) as amended by section 89 of the Local Government (Dublin) Act, 1930 (No. 27 of 1930), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling hereby orders as follows :--

1. This Order may be cited as the School Attendance (Dun Laoghaire Borough School Attendance Committees) Order, 1949.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. In this Order, the expression " the Borough Council " means the Council established under that name by the Local Government (Dublin) Act, 1930 (No. 27 of 1930).

4. Notwithstanding anything contained in the Dun Laoghaire Borough School Attendance Committees Order, 1930 ( S. R. & O. No. 98 of 1930 ) the following provisions shall have effect, as regards the year 1949 in relation to the time and mode of appointment by the Borough Council of members (other than members appointed to fill casual vacancies) of the school attendance committee for a school attendance area co-terminous with or included in the borough of Dun Laoghaire and in relation to the time of commencement of the period of office of the members so appointed :--

(a) the Borough Council shall elect, at a meeting (whether specially summoned for the purpose or not) of the Borough Council held before the 31st day of March, 1949 such number of members of the said school attendance committee as the Borough Council is entitled under the School Attendance Act, 1926 , to elect,

(b) the term of office of every member so elected shall commence on the 1st day of April, 1949.
