CUSTOMS DUTY (KNITTED FABRIC) ORDER, 1951. |

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946), hereby order as follows : |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Customs Duty (Knitted Fabric) Order, 1951. |
||
2. Article 2 of the Emergency Powers (No. 258) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O. No. 70 of 1943), is hereby revoked as on and from the 6th day of November, 1951, in so far as it suspends the enactment mentioned at reference number 1 in the First Schedule to that Order. |

3. The duty of customs imposed by section 7 of the Finance Act, 1936 (No. 31 of 1936), and mentioned at reference number 42 in the First Schedule to that Act (being a duty on knitted fabric, of all descriptions imported in the piece) is, as regards articles imported on or after the 6th day of November, 1951, hereby reduced as follows : in lieu of at the rate appropriate in accordance with the First Schedule to the Finance Act, 1936 , the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 153) Order, 1938 ( S. R. & O. No. 218 of 1938 ), or the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 177) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 65 of 1939 ), as the case may be, the said duty shall be charged, levied and paid (subject to the provisions of section 8 of the Finance Act, 1919), at the rate of an amount equal to thirty-seven and one-half per cent. of the value of the article. |
