S.I. No. 21/1953:

SOCIAL WELFARE (PERSONS TREATED AS EMPLOYERS) REGULATIONS, 1953.

SOCIAL WELFARE (PERSONS TREATED AS EMPLOYERS) REGULATIONS, 1953.

The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (4) of section 2 and section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952), and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations :--

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Persons Treated as Employers) Regulations, 1953.

2. In these Regulations, " the Act " means the Social Welfare Act, 1952 .

3. In relation to any employment specified in the first column of the Schedule to these Regulations, the person specified opposite thereto in the second column shall for the purposes of the Act be treated as the employer of the employed contributor employed in that employment.

SCHEDULE.

EMPLOYMENTS IN RESPECT OF WHICH PERSONS ARE TREATED AS EMPLOYERS.

Employments

Persons Treated As Employers

1. Employment as a teacher in a national school where the salary of such teacher is paid by the Minister for Education.

1. The Minister for Education.

2. Employment as a member of the crew of a fishing vessel where the employed person is wholly remunerated by a share in the profits or the gross earnings of the working of the vessel.

2. (a) Where the vessel is being purchased under a hire purchase agreement, the bailee.

(b) In any other case, the owner.
