ANTHRAX (COUNTIES OF CORK, KERRY, LIMERICK, TIPPERARY NORTH RIDING AND TIPPERARY SOUTH RIDING) (TEMPORARY PROVISIONS) ORDER, 1956. |

I, JAMES M. DILLON, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 22 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, hereby order as follows :-- |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Anthrax (Counties of Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary North Riding and Tipperary South Riding) (Temporary Provisions) Order, 1956. |
||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. |
||
3. In this Order-- |
||
" suspected material " means-- |
||
(a) meat and bone meal suspected of containing Bacillus Anthracis or of having had contact with meat and bone meal suspected of containing Bacillus Anthracis, or |
||
(b) any animal feeding stuff containing meat and bone meal such as aforesaid ; |
||
" area to which this Order applies " means the area consisting of the administrative counties of Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary South Riding and Tipperary North Riding. |
||
4.--(1) Where a veterinary inspector has reasonable grounds for believing that suspected material has been delivered to any lands or premises situate in the area to which this Order applies, the veterinary inspector may enter upon and inspect the lands or premises and, as respects any suspected material thereon, take samples thereof and require the occupier (who shall comply with the requirement) to carry out the destruction thereof in accordance with the directions of the veterinary inspector and under his supervision or that of another veterinary inspector. |

(2) As respects any buildings, vehicles, containers, utensils, plant or machinery which contained or had contact with suspected material referred to in the foregoing paragraph, the veterinary inspector may require the occupier or person in charge thereof (who shall comply with the requirement) to carry out (at the option of such occupier or person)-- |
||
(a) the disinfection thereof, or |
||
(b) the destruction thereof, |
||
in accordance with the directions of the veterinary inspector and under his supervision or that of another veterinary inspector. |
||
(3) The powers conferred by this Article shall not be exercised after the expiration of the period of twenty-eight days beginning on the day on which this Order is made. |
||
