HIRING, HIRE-PURCHASE AND CREDIT SALE ORDER, 1956 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956.

HIRING, HIRE-PURCHASE AND CREDIT SALE ORDER, 1956 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956.

I, WILLIAM NORTON, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942), (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Hiring, Hire-Purchase and Credit Sale Order, 1956 (Amendment) Order, 1956.

2. This Order shall be construed as one with the Hiring, Hire-Purchase and Credit Sale Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 46 of 1956 .)

3. The minimum deposit provided for by paragraphs (1) and (2) of Article 4 of, and the First Schedule to, the Hiring, Hire-Purchase and Credit Sale Order, 1956, is hereby reduced--

(a) in the case of personal clothing, from 50 per cent. to 25 per cent., except in the case of a single article, suit, costume or set of clothing the cash price of which is twenty pounds or more, and

(b) in the case of perambulators, baby carriages and similar articles, from 20 per cent. to 10 per cent.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Hiring, Hire-Purchase and Credit Sale Order, 1956 by reducing the minimum deposit in respect of perambulators from 20% to 10% of the cash price and in respect of personal clothing from 50% to 25% of the cash price, except in the case of a single article, suit, costume or set of clothing the cash price of which is £20 or more.
