SUGAR (PROHIBITION OF IMPORT) ORDER, 1955 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956. |

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 2 and 5 of the Sugar (Control of Import) Act, 1936 (No. 16 of 1936), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, hereby order as follows : |

1. This Order may be cited as the Sugar (Prohibition of Import) Order, 1955 (Amendment) Order, 1956. |
||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. |
||
3. Sugar certified by the Minister for Industry and Commerce as being required for the manufacture of goods for export elsewhere than to Northern Ireland or Great Britain shall be exempted from the prohibition effected by the Sugar (Prohibition of Import) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 64 of 1955 ). |
||
4. The Minister may impose such conditions (whether precedent or subsequent) as he thinks fit to be complied with by persons claiming or receiving the benefit of any such exemption, whether by attaching such conditions to the certificate or otherwise. |
||
5. The Revenue Commissioners shall have power to determine whether any particular quantity or description of sugar is or is not entitled to the benefit of any particular exemption conferred under this Order. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of this Order is to permit the importation by persons other than Comhlucht Siuiere Éireann, Teoranta, of any sugar which the Minister for Industry and Commerce certifies as being required for the manufacture of goods for export elsewhere than to the Six Counties or Great Britain. |
