S.I. No. 224/1958:

MERCHANT SHIPPING (SAFETY CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF APPLICATION) ORDER, 1958.

MERCHANT SHIPPING (SAFETY CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF APPLICATION) ORDER, 1958.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4 of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Act, 1952 (No. 29 of 1952) hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Countries of Application) Order, 1958.

2. It is hereby declared--

(a) that the government of each of the countries mentioned in the First Schedule hereto has accepted the Safety Convention ;

(b) that the Safety Convention extends to the territories mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order declares that the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1948, has been accepted by Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Czechoslovak Republic, Ghana, Poland, Turkey and Venezuela and has been extended to Portuguese and Dutch overseas territories.
