IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 130) (CUSTOMS DUTIES AND FORM OF CUSTOMS TARIFF) ORDER, 1962.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section I of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), and section 22 of the Finance Act, 1962 (No. 15 of 1962), hereby order as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 130) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1962.

2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Imposition of Duties (No. 128) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 163 of 1962 ).

3. Paragraph 19 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the deletion of "17.03(A),".

4. Paragraph 22 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution of "84.10(A)(1)" for "84.10(A)" in subparagraph (2).

5. The Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by--

(1) the insertion of "(b)", "6d. per lb.", 4d. per lb." and "4d. per lb." in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns, respectively, at tariff heading number 07.01 (H),

(2) the insertion of "(b)" in the second column at tariff heading number 10.01,

(3) the insertion of "£3 10s. per ton" in the third, fourth and fifth columns at the said tariff heading number 10.01,

(4) the substitution of "invert sugars" for "simple syrups" in the first column at tariff heading number 17.02(D)(1),

(5) the insertion of " Free " in the third, fourth and fifth columns at tariff heading number 17.03,

(6) the deletion of the matter in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth columns at tariff heading numbers 17.03(A) and and 17.03(B),

(7) the deletion of "dyeing," in the first column at tariff heading number 51.01(A) and the insertion of " dyeing," after " bulking," in the said first column at the said tariff heading number,

(8) the insertion of " of " before " mattresses " in the first column at tariff heading number 62.05(G),

(9) the substitution of " or steel " for " of steel " in the first column at tariff heading number 73.18,

(10) the deletion of " not " in the first column at tariff heading number 83.02(B)(1),

(11) the substitution of " iron or steel " for " cast iron " in the first column at tariff heading number 83.02(B)(4),

(12) the substitution of " Pumps for motor vehicles :

(1) Hydraulic

(2) Other" for

" Hydraulic pumps for motor vehicles " in the first column at tariff heading number 84.10(A),

(13) the deletion of the matter in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns at the said tariff heading number 84.10(A),

(14) the insertion of "(a)" " 50%", " 50%" and " 331/3% " in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns, respectively, at tariff heading number 84.10(A)(1) (inserted by this Order),

(15) the insertion of "(d)", " 37½%," " 37½% " and " 37½% " in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns, respectively, at tariff heading number 84.10(A)(2) (inserted by this Order),

(16) the substitution of " subheading (A)(1) " for " subheading (A) " in the first column at tariff heading number 84.10 (C)(1),

(17) the insertion of "(1A) For the pumps of subheading (A)(2) of this heading " in the first column after tariff heading number 84.10(C)(1),

(18) the insertion of "(d)", " 37½%", " 37½% " and " 37½% " in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns, respectively, at tariff heading number 84.10(C)(1A) (inserted by this Order),

(19) the insertion of "(D) Other . . . . . ." in the first column after tariff heading number 84.10(C)(3)(b),

(20) the insertion of " Free " in the third, fourth and fifth columns at tariff heading number 84.10(D) (inserted by this Order),

(21) the substitution of " 84.10(A)(1)" for " 84.10(A)" in both places where it occurs in Chapter 87,

(22) the insertion of " Free " in the third, fourth and fifth columns at tariff heading number 84.13,

(23) the substitution of " Exceeding " for " Not exceeding " in each of the three places where it occurs in the first column at tariff heading number 85.01(A)(3)(a),

(24) the substitution of "(d)" for "(a)" in the second column at tariff heading number 85.01(D)(1),

(25) the substitution of "(d)" for "(a)" in the second column at tariff heading number 85.04(B)(1),

(26) the substitution of "75%" for "150%" in the third, fourth and fifth columns at tariff heading number 87.02(B)(2)(b),

(27) the substitution of " 3 yds." for "12 yds." in the third, fourth and fifth columns in both places where it occurs in each of those columns at tariff heading number 98.08(A)(2),

(28) the insertion of " Free " in the third, fourth and fifth columns at tariff heading number 98.09, and

(29) the deletion of the matter in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth columns at tariff heading numbers 98.09(A) and 98.09(B).

6. The duty of customs imposed by the Imposition of Duties (No. 129) (Wheat) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1962 ), is hereby terminated as on and from the 1st day of January, 1963.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Order amends the Imposition of Duties (No. 128) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 163 of 1962 ) which gives statutory effect to the new Customs Tariff, based on the Brussels Nomenclature.

The effects of the Order are to terminate the duty on wheat imposed by the Imposition of Duties (No. 129) (Wheat) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1962 ) and to re-impose that duty in accordance with the new Tariff classification. It also makes certain textual corrections in the new form of tariff.

The Order comes into operation on the 1st January, 1963.
