FOREIGN PARCEL POST AMENDMENT (No. 5) WARRANT, 1964.

FOREIGN PARCEL POST AMENDMENT (No. 5) WARRANT, 1964.

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs as testified by his official seal affixed hereto, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2, 4, 12 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, hereby order as follows :

1.--(1) This Warrant may be cited as the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1964.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the first day of June, 1964.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant.

3. In this Warrant " the Principal Warrant " means the Foreign Parcel Post Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1953 ).

4. Regulation 27 of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution of " £50 " for " £40 ".

5.--(1) The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 9 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1959 ( S.I. No. 48 of 1959 )) of the entries in the First Schedule hereto.

(2) Part II of the Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by the said Regulation 9) of the entries in the Second Schedule hereto.

Customs Clearance Fee :

On each parcel where the duty does not exceed 10s.

Outgoing Express Delivery Fee

Advice of Delivery Fee on outgoing insured parcel

For each transmission of the advice of delivery form by air mail

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant applies to the Foreign Parcel Post service and comes into operation on the 1st June, 1964. It authorises an increase in the maximum trade charge which may be collected on behalf of the sender of a Cash-on-Delivery parcel exchanged with a foreign Postal Administration. It also authorises increases in the fees chargeable for Customs clearance of incoming dutiable parcels, and in the compensation fees and advice of delivery fees on outgoing insured parcels.
