BACON EXPORT SUBSIDY (No. 1) ORDER, 1964.

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 40 of the Pigs and Bacon (Amendment) Act, 1939 , (No. 35 of 1939) and Section 13 of the Pigs and Bacon (Amendment) Act, 1956 , (No. 37 of 1956) and with the concurrence of the Minister for Agriculture the Pigs and Bacon Commission hereby orders as follows :--

1. This Order may be cited as the Bacon Export Subsidy (No. 1) Order, 1964.

2. This Order shall apply only to bacon exported by a Licensee which was produced on the premises to which the Licensee's licence relates. For the purposes of this Order the bacon to which the Order applies shall be divided into Five Classes--

Class I shall mean bacon of the quality and description derived from Grade A Special carcases of bacon pigs as defined in the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1962 or the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1964, during the period to which each such Order relates.

Class II shall mean bacon (other than bacon exported as ships' stores) of the quality and description derived from Grade A carcases of bacon pigs as defined in the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1962 or the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1964 during the period to which each such Order relates.

Class III shall mean pre-packaged bacon, that is, bacon packaged in lots weighing not more than 5 lb. marketed in a condition suitable for sale direct to the consumer without further processing, slicing or cutting and derived from bacon of the quality and description derived from Grade A carcases of bacon pigs as defined in the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1962 or the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1964 during the period to which each such Order relates.

Class IV shall mean bacon exported as ships' stores of the quality and description derived from Grade A carcases of bacon pigs as defined in the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1962 or the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1964 during the period to which each such Order relates.

Class V shall mean all other bacon not falling within Class 1 or Class II or Class III or Class IV.

3. Bacon in this Order referred to in Class I shall be known as " Extra Selected".

4. In this Order the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1962 shall refer to The Pigs and Bacon Acts, 1935 to 1961 (Pigs and Bacon Commission) Grading (No. 1) Order, 1962 and the Grading (No. 1) Order, 1964 shall refer to The Pigs and Bacon Acts, 1935 to 1961 (Pigs and Bacon Commission) Grading (No. 1) Order, 1964.

5. Subject as hereinafter provided every Licensee who exports bacon of any Class to which this Order applies shall be paid a subsidy at the rate hereinafter specified appropriate to bacon of such Class.

6. (a) In respect of Class 1 bacon exported during any period specified in the first column of the First Schedule to this Order the rate of subsidy shall be as set out in the second column of the Schedule opposite the mention of the period.

(b) In respect of Class II bacon exported during any period specified in the first column of the Second Schedule to this Order the rate of subsidy shall be as set out in the second column of the Schedule opposite the mention of the period.

(c) In respect of Class III bacon exported during any period specified in the first Column of the Second Schedule the rate of subsidy shall be one and one half times the rate appropriate to Class II bacon exported during the same period.

(d) In respect of Class IV bacon exported during any period specified in the Second Schedule the rate of subsidy shall be the rate appropriate to Class II bacon exported during the same period less 11s. 6d. per cwt.

(e) In respect of Class V bacon the subsidy shall be at the nominal rate of Id. per cwt. on the net quantity exported on and after the 2nd August, 1963 but no subsidy shall be payable in respect of bacon of this Class exported on or after the 3rd August, 1963.

(f) For the purposes of this Order the net quantity exported shall mean the net quantity of bacon dispatched from the Licensee's premises less an allowance of 1% for shrinkage.

7. Payment of subsidy will be subject to compliance by the Licensee with such conditions as may be contained in Regulations made by the Commission.

8. This Order shall be deemed to have come into force on the 2nd day of August, 1963.

9. Unless a contrary intention is indicated by the context all words and expressions used in this Order shall be construed as in the Pigs and Bacon Acts, 1935 to 1961.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the rate of subsidy payable to licensed bacon curers on bacon exported during the period from 2nd August, 1963 to 16th March, 1964 inclusive.
