MARITIME JURISDICTION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1964 (SPECIFIED STATES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1967.

MARITIME JURISDICTION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1964 (SPECIFIED STATES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1967.

The Government, in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 3 of the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (No. 32 of 1964), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (Specified States) (Amendment) Order, 1967.

(2) The Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (Specified States) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 198 of 1965 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (Specified States) Orders, 1965 and 1967.

2. The Schedule to the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (Specified States) Order, 1965, is hereby amended by the substitution for Part II of the following:

Belgian fishing vessels.

Demersal species, herring and nephrops in the fishing grounds in either portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portions of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lie;

(a) Opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through Slyne Head, joins Carrickakin, Achill Island, to Kerry Head and between lines drawn in true direction (i) West from the point located at the said Carrickakin the co-ordinates of which, are 53° 58·3" North latitude and 10° 16·5' West longitude, and (ii) West from the point located ar Kerry Head the co-ordinates of which are 52° 25·2' North latitude and 9° 56·8' West longitude, and

(b) opposite that part of the base line which, passing through The Stags, Toe Head, joins the Great Foze Rock to Ballagan Point, County Louth, and between lines drawn in true direction (i) West from the point located at the Great Foze Rock the co-ordinates of which are 52° 01·3" North latitude and 10° 41·3' West longitude, and (ii) East from the point located at the said Ballagan Point the co-ordinates of which are 54° 00·0' North latitude and 6° 06·1' West longitude.

British fishing vessels.

Demersal species in the fishing grounds in either portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portions of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lie;

(a) due North of the mouth of Lough Foyle, and

(b) opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through Carrickakin, Achill Island, joins Inishowen Head to Galley Head and between lines drawn in true direction (i) North-East from the point located at Inishowen Head the co-ordinates of which are 55° 14·3" North latitude and 6° 55·3' West longitude, and (ii) South from the point located at Galley Head the co-ordinates of which are 51° 31·8' North latitude and 8° 57.21 West longitude.

Demersal species, herring and mackerel in the fishing grounds in the portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lies opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through the Old Head of Kinsale, joins Galley Head to Hook Head and between lines drawn in true direction (i) South from the point located at Galley Head the co-ordinates of which are 51° 31·8" North latitude and 8° 57·2' West longitude, and (ii) South from the point located at Hook Head the co-ordinates of which are 52° 07·4' North latitude and 6° 55·7' West longitude.

Demersal species, herring, mackerel, nephrops and escallops in the fishing grounds in either portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portions of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lie;

(a) opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through Carnsore Point, joins Hook Head to Ballagan Point, County Louth, and between lines drawn in true direction (i) South from the point located at Hook Head the co-ordinates of which are 52° 07·4" North latitude and 6° 55·7' West longitude and (ii) East from the point located at the said Ballagan Point the co-ordinates of which are 54° 00·0' North latitude and 6° 06·1' West longitude, and

(b) east of the mouth of Carlingford. Lough.

French fishing vessels.

Demersal species and nephrops in the fishing grounds in the portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lies opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through Carrickakin, Achill Island, joins Malinmore Head to Sybil Point and between lines drawn in true direction (i) West from the point located at Malinmore Head the co-ordinates of which are 54° 42·0" North latitude and 8° 48·2' West longitude, and (ii) West from the point located at Sybil Point the co-ordinates of which are 52° 10·9' North latitude and 10° 28·4' West longtitude.

Demersal species, nephrops, herring and mackerel, in the fishing grounds in the portion of th exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lies opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through Howth Head, joins Carnsore Point to Ballagan Point, County Louth, and between lines drawn in true direction (i) South from the point located at Carnsore Point the co-ordinates of which are 52° 10·3" North latitude and 6° 21·8' West longitude, and (ii) East from the point located at the said Ballagan Point the co-ordinates of which are 54° 00·0' North latitude and 6° 06·1' West longitude.

German fishing vessels.

Herring in the fishing grounds in the portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lies opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through Hook Head, joins the Old Head of Kinsale to Carnsore Point and between lines drawn in true direction (i) South from the point located at the Old Head of Kinsale the co-ordinates of which are 51° 36·3" North latitude and 8° 32·0' West longitude, and (ii) South from the point located at Carnsore Point the co-ordinates of which are 52° 10·3' North latitude and 6° 21·8' West longitude.

Netherlands fishing vessels.

Herring and mackerel in the fishing grounds in the portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lies opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through the Old Head of Kinsale, joins The Stags, Toe Head, to Carnsore Point and between lines drawn in true direction (i) South from the point located at the said The Stags the co-ordinates of which are 51° 28·0" North latitude and 9° 13·4' West longitude, and (ii) South from the point located at Carnsore Point the co-ordinates of which are 52° 10·3' North latitude and 6° 21·8' West longitude.

Spanish fishing vessels.

Demersal species in the fishing grounds in either portion of the exclusive fishery limits of the State specified opposite which are fishing grounds to which fishing by the vessels so specified is by this Order confined.

The portions of the exclusive fishery limits of the State which lie ;

(a) opposite that part of the baseline which passing through Stag Rocks, County Donegal joins Bloody Foreland to Rinrawros Point Aran Island, and between lines drawn in true direction (i) North from the point located at Bloody Foreland the co-ordinates of which are 55° 09·6" North latitude and 8° 17·0 West longitude, and (ii) West from the point located at the said Rinrawros Point the co-ordinates of which are 55° 00·8' North latitude and 8° 33·8' West longitude, and

(b) opposite that part of the baseline which, passing through the Great Foze Rock, joins Carrickakin, Achill Island, to The Rogue, Mine Head, and between lines drawn in true direction (i) West from the point located at the said Carrickakin the co-ordinates of which are 53° 58·3" North latitude and 10° 16·5' West longitude, and (ii) South-east from the point located at the said The Rogue the co-ordinates of which are 51° 59·6' North latitude and 7° 34·6' West longitude.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order amends those provisions of the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (Specified States) Order, 1965, which indicate the areas and stocks of fish in respect of which the vessels of Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Netherlands and Spain have traditional fishing rights in the exclusive fishery limits around the Irish coast. The combined effect of the two Orders in this respect is to permit vessels of these countries to continue fishing in the six to twelve mile belt of the exclusive fishery limits in the specified areas for the specified stocks of fish. This Order is made under the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 .
