S.I. No. 54/1967:

MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT, 1966 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1967.

MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT, 1966 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1967.

The Government, in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 21 (2) of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1966 , hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Act, 1966 (Commencement) Order, 1967.

2. The 14th day of May, 1967, is hereby appointed to be the day on which the Merchant Shipping Act, 1966 (No. 20 of 1966), shall come into force.

GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Government, this 14th day of March, 1967.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation the Merchant Shipping Act, 1966 , to enable effect to be given to the provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1960.
