REDUNDANCY (NOTICE OF DISMISSAL) REGULATIONS, 1968.

I, P. S. Ó h-IRIGHILE, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 17 and 58 of the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967 (No. 21 of 1967), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Redundancy (Notice of Dismissal) Regulations, 1968.

2. In these Regulations "the notice" means the notice required by section 17 (1) of the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967 (No. 21 of 1967).

3. The notice shall be given in the form set out in the schedule to these Regulations and shall contain the appropriate particulars referred to in that form.

4. A copy of the notice shall, at the same time as it is given to the employee concerned, be sent by the employer concerned to the Employment Exchange or to the Employment Office which (in either case) is nearest to the employer's place of business.

5. An employer who fails to comply with these Regulations shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding ten pounds and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding ten pounds in respect of each day on which the offence is continued.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these regulations is to require employers when giving notice of dismissal under the Redundancy Payments Act to use the form (R.P.1) provided by the Minister for this purpose and to send a copy of the completed form to the Employment Exchange or Employment Office, nearest the employer's place of business, at the same time as it is given to the employee.     Penalties for failure to comply with the regulations are also specified.
