NEWSPAPERS (SPECIAL SERVICE FOR CONVEYANCE BY POST OFFICE MAIL VANS) AMENDMENT (NO. 2) WARRANT, 1968.

NEWSPAPERS (SPECIAL SERVICE FOR CONVEYANCE BY POST OFFICE MAIL VANS) AMENDMENT (NO. 2) WARRANT, 1968.

I, JOHN LYNCH, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, made in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 158 of 1967 ), as testified by his signature hereon, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 14 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, hereby order as follows :

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Amendment (No. 2) Warrant, 1968.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1969.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant.

3. The Schedule to the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Warrant, 1957 ( S.I. No. 37 of 1957 ), (as amended by the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Amendment (No. 1) Warrant, 1964 ( S.I. No. 127 of 1964 )) is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Schedule to this Warrant.

SCHEDULE.

In case the newspaper bundles sent to the news-agent are bundles each not exceeding 3 lb. in weight ... ... ... ... ... ... £8 per annum
In case the newspaper bundles sent to the news-agent are bundles each exceeding 3 lb. and not exceeding 6 lb. in weight ... ... ... ... £12 per annum
In case the newspaper bundles sent to the news-agent are bundles each exceeding 6 lb. and not exceeding 11 lb. in weight ... ... ... ... £16 per annum
In case the newspaper bundles sent to the news-agent are bundles each exceeding 11 lb. and not exceeding 15 lb. in weight ... ... ... ... £22 per annum
In case the newspaper bundles sent to the news-agent are bundles each exceeding 15 lb. and not exceeding 22 lb. in weight ... ... ... ... £28 per annum.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant comes into operation on the 1st January, 1969. It authorises increases in the charges for the conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans on rural services of bundles of newly published daily newspapers.
