EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
These Regulations replace the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Carlow) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 127 of 1966 ) and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Carlow. |
The Regulations exclude the public roads mentioned in the First Schedule from the scope of the built-up area speed limit of 30 m.p.h. prescribed by section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 thus enabling a special speed limit of 40 m.p.h. to be applied to some of these roads. |
The Regulations declare that the roads mentioned in the Second Schedule, which would otherwise be outside the scope of the built-up area speed limit of 30 m.p.h., shall be subject to that limit. |
The Regulations prescribe a speed limit of 40 m.p.h. in respect of the public roads mentioned in the Third Schedule. |
Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and Garda Síochána vehicles while being used in the course of duty are excepted from all speed limits by the Regulations. |
