I, JAMES M. GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 6 and 8 of the Bee Pest Prevention (Ireland) Act, 1908, and Section 8 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 83 of 1965 ), hereby make the following regulations:-- |

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Bee Pest Prevention (Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2. The Bee Pest Prevention (Ireland) Regulations, 1909, are hereby amended by the substitution for Regulation 10 of the following:-- |

"10. Compensation for the destruction of bees, articles and appliances may be allowed by a local authority at a rate not exceeding the following-- |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) MOVABLE COMB HIVE. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3. The Bee Pest Prevention (Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations, 1950 are hereby revoked. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Order increases the compensation payable by Local Authorities for bees or equipment infested with foul brood disease and compulsorily destroyed. |
