I, PATRICK J. LALOR, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the motor Vehicles (Registration of Importers) Act, 1968 (No. 15 of 1968), hereby make the following regulations: |
||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Registration of Importers) Act, 1968 (Definition of Motor Vehicle) Regulations, 1973. |
||
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 10th day of January, 1973. |
||
3. The definition of "motor vehicle" in section 1 (1) of the motor Vehicles (Registration of Importers) Act, 1968 (No. 15 of 1968), is hereby extended by the insertion after "such tractor" of the following: |
||
"and also includes such a mechanically propelled vehicle in the form of a complete or substantially complete aggregate of used parts which are classified as knocked down under the Imposition of Duties (No. 200) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1972 )". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of these regulations is to channel imports of used vehicles in knocked down condition through firms registered for the importation of fully built-up vehicles. |
