S.I. No. 92/1973:

DUBLIN TRAFFIC AND PARKING (PEDESTRIANISATION) TEMPORARY RULES, 1973.

DUBLIN TRAFFIC AND PARKING (PEDESTRIANISATION) TEMPORARY RULES, 1973.

I, PATRICK MALONE, Commissioner of the Gárda Síochána in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 89 and 90 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 , (No. 24 of 1961) (as amended by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968)), hereby make the following temporary rules in respect of the area comprising the county borough of Dublin:

1. These rules may be cited as the Dublin Traffic and Parking (Pedestrianisation) Temporary Rules, 1973.

2. These rules shall come into operation on the 16th day of April, 1973.

3. (1) No person shall enter a street or portion of a street to which this rule applies with a vehicle or park a vehicle in such a street or portion thereof for any period during the period from 11 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on any weekday.

(2) This rule shall not apply to--

( a ) any vehicle which is being used in connection with--

(i) the removal of any obstruction to traffic,

(ii) the maintenance, improvement or reconstruction of any street or part of a street,

(iii) the provision, alteration or repair of any sewer or of any main, pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity or any telegraphic or telephonic line, or

( b ) a fire engine or ambulance or any vehicle in the service of the Garda Síochána while being used in pursuance of statutory powers or duties.

(3) This rule applies to the portion of the street described in the Schedule to these rules.

SCHEDULE.

The portion of Mary Street from the western building line at the junction with Liffey Street to the eastern building line at the junction with Jervis Street.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

1. Rule 3 (1) prohibits a person from entering with or parking a vehicle within the pedestrianised portion of the street set out in the schedule to the rules between 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on weekdays.

2. Rule 3 (2) outlines exceptions to the prohibition on parking.

3. These rules apply in the area comprising the County Borough of Dublin.
