MANUFACTURE OF HOLLOW-WARE AND THE PROCESS OF GALVANISING (WELFARE) REGULATIONS, 1973.

MANUFACTURE OF HOLLOW-WARE AND THE PROCESS OF GALVANISING (WELFARE) REGULATIONS, 1973.

I, MICHAEL O'LEARY, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 6 , 8 and 57 of the Factories Act, 1955 (No. 10 of 1955), and the Labour (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1966 ), after due compliance with the provisions of the Third Schedule to that Act, hereby make as special regulations the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Manufacture of Hollow-ware and the Process of Galvanising (Welfare) Regulations, 1973.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1973.

3. These Regulations shall apply to every factory in which--

(a) the manufacture of hollow-ware, or

(b) the process of galvanising, other than the galvanising of wire, is carried on.

4. The occupier of a factory shall provide and maintain in good condition--

(a) for the use of all persons employed in wet processes, suitable protective clothing and footwear, and

(b) for the use of all persons coming into contact with acid or acid solutions--

(i) finger stalls or gloves of rubber or other suitable material, and

(ii) aprons of acid proof material.

5. The Hollow-ware and Galvanising Welfare Order, 1921 (No. 2032 of 1921), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations prescribe the type of protective clothing to be provided for persons employed in the manufacture of hollow-ware and the process of galvanising.
