REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES (ALTERATION OF FEES AND ALLOWANCES) REGULATIONS, 1974.

REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES (ALTERATION OF FEES AND ALLOWANCES) REGULATIONS, 1974.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 9 of the Vital Statistics and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1952 (No. 8 of 1952), with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following Regulations:--

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Alteration of Fees and Allowances) Regulations 1974.

2. ( a ) The amount of the fee for each entry made on or after the 1st day of April 1973, in an account of the births, deaths or marriages registered by a Registrar, fixed by an enactment to which this article applies, shall be 20p.

( b ) The enactments to which this article applies are:--

(i) Section 54 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863;

(ii) Section 21 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863, as amended by section 3 of the Registration of Marriages Act, 1936 (No. 35 of 1936).

3. The amount of the allowance payable under section 3 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1936 (No. 34 of 1936) shall, with effect from the 1st day of April, 1973, be:--

( a ) forty pounds in respect of each year and

( b ) in the case of a part of a year during which a Registrar has held office, an amount bearing to forty pounds the same ratio as the said part of such year bears to one year.

4. The amount of the allowance payable under section 2 of the Registration of Marriages Act, 1936 , shall, with effect from the 1st day of April, 1973, be:--

( a ) ten pounds in respect of each year and

( b ) in the case of a part of a year during which a Registrar has held office, an amount bearing to ten pounds the same ratio as the said part of such year bears to one year.

The amount of the fee for each entry made on or after the 1st day of April, 1973, in the certified copies of Registers of Births and Deaths fixed by section 53 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863, shall be 4p.

The amount of the fee for each entry made on or after the 1st day of April, 1973, in the certified copies of Registers of Births and fixed by section 20 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863, shall, be 4p.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations increase from 1st April, 1973, the entry fees and allowances payable to Registrars of Births, Deaths and Marriages and the checking fees payable to individual Superintendent Registrars.
