HEALTH (CHARGES FOR IN-PATIENT SERVICES) REGULATIONS, 1976.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947) and section 53 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970) hereby makes the following Regulations:--

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health (Charges for In-Patient Services) Regulations, 1976.

2. In these Regulations--

"the Act" means the Health Act, 1970 .

3. (1) A charge towards the cost of in-patient services provided under section 52 of the Act may be made on a person who is not a person with full eligibility where the person--

( a ) has no dependants and

( b ) has been in receipt of in-patient services for ninety days or for periods aggregating in total ninety days within the previous twelve months.

(2) A charge under this article shall be at a rate not exceeding the income of the person, less a sum of £2.50 a week or less such larger sum as may be determined by the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board having regard to the circumstances of the case.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide that charges towards the cost of hospital in-patient services provided under section 52 of the Health Act, 1970 , may be made in the case of long-stay patients without dependants who have not full eligibility for health services.
