DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL ORDER, 1979.

The Minister for the Environment (hereinafter referred to as "the Minister") in exercise of the powers vested in him by article 25 of the Schedule to the Local Government (Application of Enactments) Order, 1898, and subsection (7) of section 33 of the Local Government Act, 1941 , (No. 23 of 1941), it having been represented to him by the Council of the County of Dublin that the number of members of the Council should be altered and the Minister having caused to be held a local inquiry into the said representation, hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Dublin County Council Order, 1979.

2. The Dublin County Council Order, 1948, ( S.I. No. 267 of 1948 ), and the Dublin County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 29 of 1974 ), are hereby revoked.

3. The number of members of the Council of the County of Dublin (hereinafter referred to as "the Council") to be elected at the election held next after the date of this Order, and at each succeeding election until the Minister shall otherwise provide, shall be thirty-six.

4. (1) The County of Dublin shall be divided into the county electoral areas named in the First column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Every such county electoral area shall consist of the places set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the Council to be elected for each such county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

5. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a district electoral division or borough shall be construed as referring to such district electoral division or borough as constituted at the date of this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the membership of the Council of the County of Dublin at thirty-six, divides Dublin County into nine county electoral areas for the purpose of the election of members of Dublin County Council and fixes the number of members to be elected for each county electoral area.
