ROAD TRAFFIC (LICENSING OF DRIVERS) (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1979.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 , 22 , 33 , 35 and 42 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1979.

(2) The expression the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964 to 1979 shall include these Regulations.

2. The Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964 ( S.I. No. 29 of 1964 ) as amended by the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 337 of 1979 ) are hereby amended by the substitution in article 29 (1) (a) (ii) of "on the 11th day of October, 1979" for "on the day on which these Regulations come into operation ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations clarify the date on which a second provisional licence must be held so as to enable the holder to obtain a driving licence without first obtaining a certificate of competency.
