COURTS (SUPPLEMENTAL PROVISIONS) ACT, 1961 (SECTION 46) ORDER, 1981.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 46(9) of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961) (inserted by section 1 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No.2) Act, 1968 (No. 21 of 1968) ), as amended by section 11 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary and Judicial Offices (Amendment) Act, 1977 ( No. 29 of 1977 ), hereby make the following order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (Section 46) Order, 1981.

2. The sum payable by way of remuneration to each judge of the Supreme Court, the High Court and the Circuit Court and each justice of the District Court shall, with effect from the 1st day of June, 1981, be and be deemed to have been increased by an amount equal to 7 per cent. of that sum, being increases calculated in accordance with the provisions of clause 3.1 (excluding the second and fourth subparagraphs) of Part 2 of the Second National Understanding for Economic and Social Development dated October, 1980, and the said sums, as so increased, are set out in the Schedule to this Order.

to each ordinary Judge of the Supreme Court

to each ordinary Judge of the High Court

to the President of the Circuit Court

£27,405 a year

to each ordinary Judge of the Circuit Court

£22,460 a year

to the President of the District Court

£22,460 a year

to each other Justice of the District Court

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order gives to the judiciary, with effect from 1 June, 1981, the second phase 7% increase provided for in the Second National Understanding for Economic and Social Development.
