I, LIAM KAVANAGH, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 17 (3) of the Trade Union Act, 1975 (No. 4 of 1975), hereby make the following Order: |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Trade Union Act, 1975 (Section 17) (Commencement) Order, 1983. |
||
2. The 1st day of July, 1983, is hereby fixed as the date on which section 17 of the Trade Union Act, 1975 , so far as it applies to an existing holder of a negotiation licence, shall come into operation. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This Order appoints the date on which section 17 of the Trade Union Act, 1975 , so far as it applies to existing holders of a negotiation licence, shall come into operation. Section 17 provides that a trade union under the law of another country shall not hold or be granted a negotiation licence unless it has a committee of management resident in the State or Northern Ireland which is empowered to make certain decisions. |
