ROAD TRANSPORT ACT, 1978 (SECTION 5) ORDER, 1983.

I, JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 5 of the Road Transport Act, 1978 (No. 8 of 1978), and the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1980 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Road Transport Act, 1978 (Section 5) Order, 1983.

2. The following class of vehicle, namely, vehicles being operated by a carrier established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and engaged in transport operations referred to in Article 3 of the agreement made on the 30th day of May, 1983, between the Government and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the international carriage of goods by road (being an international agreement relating to international transport by road), is hereby exempted from the provisions of sections 9 and 34 of the Road Transport Act, 1933 (as amended and extended) and section 7 of the Road Transport Act, 1935 (as amended and extended).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is that a merchandise licence, a vehicle plate, a licence under Section 7 of the Road Transport Act, 1935 , or a restricted road freight licence under the Road Transport Acts are not required in respect of vehicles operated by carriers established in the Netherlands and engaged in transport operations referred to in Article 3 of the Road Transport Agreement between the Government and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands dated 30 May, 1983.
