MERCHANT SHIPPING (INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION ON LOAD LINES) (CONVENTION COUNTRIES) ORDER 1986. |

The Government, being satisfied that the Governments of the countries specified in the First Schedule to this Order have accepted or acceded to the Convention of 1966 and that the Convention of 1966 extends to the terrorities specified in the Second Schedule and in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 30 (1) of the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) Act, 1968 (No. 17 of 1968), hereby make the following order: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (International Convention on Load Lines) (Convention Countries) Order, 1986. |
||
2. The Merchant Shipping (International Convention on Load Lines) (Convention Countries) Order, 1969 ( S.I. No. 133 of 1969 ), the Merchant Shipping (International Convention on Load Lines) (Convention Countries) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 10 of 1970 ), the Merchant Shipping (International Convention on Load Lines) (Convention Countries) Order, 1971 ( S.I. No. 282 of 1971 ), and the Merchant Shipping (International Convention on Load Lines) (Convention Countries) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 308 of 1977 ), are hereby revoked. |

3. It is hereby declared that: |
||
( a ) the Governments of the countries specified in the First Schedule to this Order have accepted or acceded to the Convention of 1966; |
||
and |
||
( b ) the Governments of the territories specified in the Second Schedule to this Order have accepted or acceded to the Convention of 1966. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This Order declares that the Governments of the countries specified in the First Schedule thereto have accepted or acceded to the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966, and that the Convention extends to the territories specified in the Second Schedule. It revokes all previous Convention Countries Orders so as to give a revised and updated list of those countries or territories that have become parties to the Convention. |
||
The principal effect of the declaration is that certificates issued by such countries or territories will be regarded as having the same force within the State as certificates issued by the State. |
