EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (AGRICULTURAL OR FORESTRY TRACTORS TYPE APPROVAL) REGULATIONS, 1987.

I, MICHAEL O'KENNEDY, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directives 86/297/EEC of 26 May, 1986,⁽¹⁾ and 86/415/EEC of 24 July, 1986,⁽²⁾ in so far as those Directives apply to the type approval of agricultural or forestry tractors and components, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1987, and shall come into operation on the 15th day of December, 1987.

2. Schedule I (inserted by the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 270 of 1983 )) to the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 137 of 1979 ), is hereby amended by the insertion in columns (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5) in that Schedule after item No. 21 of the following matter:--

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Regulations implement the type approval provisions of Council Directives 86/297/EEC and 86/415/EEC relating to power take-offs and to the installation, location, operation and identification of the controls of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors.
