S.I. No. 304/1987:

DUBLIN HARBOUR (CITY DUES) (ABOLITION) ORDER, 1987

DUBLIN HARBOUR (CITY DUES) (ABOLITION) ORDER, 1987

I, BRENDAN DALY, Minister for the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on my by section 182 of the Harbours Act, 1946 (No. 9 of 1946), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 91 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Dublin Harbour (City Dues) (Abolition) Order, 1987.

2. In this Order "the Corporation" means the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Dublin.

3. It is hereby declared that, on and from the 26th day of November, 1987:

( a ) the charges commonly known as City dues chargeable at Dublin Harbour shall cease to be charged; and

( b ) any oblighations of the Corporation (whether acquired under charter or by statute or otherwise) whereof the said dues of any part thereof were in consideration shall cease.

4. The Dublin Port and Docks Board shall, within thirty-one days after the making of this Order, pay to the Corporation the sum of £3,500 towards compensating the Corporation for loss sustained by them owing to the operation of this Order.

5. Nothing in this Order shall affect, interfere with, take away, lessen or alter the continued existence of the Office of Admiralty granted to the Corporation by Royal Charter No. 85, 24 Elizabeth 1, on the 25th day of January, 1581.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order authorises the Dublin Port and Docks Board to abolish charges known as City Dues at Dublin Harbour.
