S.I. No. 73/1989:

SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1989 (SECTION 18) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989.

SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1989 (SECTION 18) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 18 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 (No. 4 of 1989), hereby orders as follows--

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1989 (Section 18) (Commencement) Order, 1989.

2. Section 18 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 (No. 4 of 1989) shall come into operation on the 6th day of April, 1989.

GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Social Welfare this 5th

day of April, 1989.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into effect from 6 April 1989 the provisions for the extension of cover under the Occupational Injuries Insurance Scheme to members of the Garda Sióchána, which are contained in section 18 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 ..
