SOCIAL WELFARE (ADULT DEPENDANT) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1990. |

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981 ) (as amended by section 3 of the Social Welfare (No. 2) Act, 1985 (No. 14 of 1985)) and section 3 of the said Act of 1981, hereby makes the following Regulations:-- |

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Adult Dependant) (Amendment) Regulations, 1990. |
||
(2) These Regulations and the Principal Regulations shall be construed together as one and may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Adult Dependant) Regulations, 1986 and 1990. |
||
2. These Regulations shall come into operation-- |
||
( a ) on the 30th day of May, 1990 for the purposes of unemployment assistance, |
||
( b ) on the 31st day of May, 1990 for the purposes of unemployment benefit, |
||
( c ) on the 4th day of June, 1990 for the purposes of disability benefit, maternity allowance, injury benefit and disablement benefit, |
||
( d ) on the 7th day of June, 1990 for the purposes of invalidity pension, retirement pension and pre-retirement allowance, |
||
( e ) on the 8th day of June, 1990 for the purposes of old age (contributory) pension, old age pension and blind pension. |
||
3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Social Welfare (Adult Dependant) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 369 of 1986 ). |
||
4. Article 4 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of "£55" for "£50" in each place in which it appears. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
These regulations provide for an increase from £50 to £55 in the income limit which is used in determining whether a person is to be regarded as an adult dependant for social welfare payment purposes. The increased limit takes effect from the beginning of June, 1990. |
