I, JOHN P. WILSON, Minister for the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 9 (7) of the Harbours Act, 1947 (No. 34 of 1947), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 91 of 1987 ), hereby make the following rules:--

1. These rules may be cited as the Harbour Authorities (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1990.
|
|
|
2. The allowance to be paid under paragraph (a) or paragraph (b) of section 9 (7) of the Harbours Act, 1947 , to a member of a harbour authority in respect of absence from his official residence by reason of attendance at a meeting or meetings to which either such paragraph relates shall with effect as on and from the 1st day of January, 1990, not exceed--

|
( a ) £13.50 in respect of a continuous period of less than seven hours and not less than three hours, and
|
|
|
( b ) £18.00 in respect of a continuous period of not less than seven hours.
|
|
|
3. The form set out in the Schedule hereto is the form to be used in respect of applications under these Rules.
|
|
|
4. The Harbour Authorities (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1984 ( S.I. No. 7 of 1984 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
|
|
|
The effect of these rules is to provide for increases in the allowances which a harbour authority may pay to its members in respect of attendance at meetings of the authority.
|
