ROAD TRAFFIC (LICENSING OF TRAILERS AND SEMI-TRAILERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1990.

ROAD TRAFFIC (LICENSING OF TRAILERS AND SEMI-TRAILERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1990.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 10 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968), hereby makes the following Regulations:--

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1990.

2. These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 and 1983 shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 to 1990.

3. Article 2 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1982 ) is hereby amended by the substitution of the following sub-article for sub-article (3):--

"(3) These Regulations shall not apply to--

( a ) a vehicle belonging to or used for official purpose by the Defence Forces or by the Garda Síochána, or

( b ) a vehicle which is the property of a person engaged in agriculture and which is designed and used primarily for work on the land and which is used on a public road only incidentally to such work.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations exclude agricultural trailers from the requirement to be licensed under the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 and 1983.
