SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1991 (SECTION 8 (1) ( a ) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1991.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 8 (1) ( a ) of the Social Welfare Act, 1991 (No. 7 of 1991), hereby orders as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1991 (Section 8 (1) ( a ) (Commencement) Order, 1991.

2. Paragraph ( a ) of subsection (1) of section 8 of the Social Welfare Act, 1991 shall come into operation on the 25th day of July, 1991.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order brings into operation the provisions of section 8 (1) ( a ) of the Social Welfare Act, 1991 , with effect from 25 July, 1991.

Section 8 (1)( a ) of the Social Welfare Act, 1991 provides for the extension of the carer's allowance scheme to cover carers of recipients of disabled person's maintenance allowance and carers of recipients of pensions from other EC Member States and States with which Ireland has bilateral agreements on social security.
