MERCHANT SHIPPING (SAFETY CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF ACCEPTANCE) ORDER, 1992.

MERCHANT SHIPPING (SAFETY CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF ACCEPTANCE) ORDER, 1992.

I, MICHAEL WOODS, Minister for the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4 of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Act, 1952 (No. 29 of 1952), as amended by section 2 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1966 (No. 20 of 1966), section 2 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1981 (No. 33 of 1981) and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 91 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Countries of Acceptance) Order, 1992.

2. The Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Countries of Acceptance) Order, 1983 ( S.I. No. 320 of 1983 ), is hereby revoked.

3. It is hereby declared that the Government of each of the countries specified in the Schedule to this Order has accepted the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea signed in London on behalf of the Government on the 1st day of November, 1974.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order declares that the Governments of the countries specified in the Schedule thereto have accepted the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974.

It replaces the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Countries of Acceptance) Order, 1983 ( S.I. No. 330 of 1983 ) which listed the countries which had accepted the Convention at that time.
