LOCAL GOVERNMENT (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT) ACT, 1983 (SECTION 5) ORDER, 1993. |

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 (6) of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1983 (No. 28 of 1983), hereby makes the following Order, a draft of which has been approved by a resolution passed by each House of the Oireachtas:-- |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1983 (Section 5) Order, 1993. |
||
2. Section 5 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1983 is hereby amended by the substitution for subsection (2) of the following subsection: |
||
"(2) There shall be a committee (in this section subsequently referred to as "the committee") consisting of-- |
||
( a ) the President of the High Court, |
||
( b ) the Chairman of the County Councils General Council, |
||
( c ) the Secretary of the Department of the Environment, |
||
( d ) the Chairperson of the Council of An Taisce -- the National Trust for Ireland, |
||
( e ) the President of the Construction Industry Federation, |
||
( f ) the President of the Executive Council of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, and |
||
( g ) the Chairperson of the Council for the Status of Women.". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This Order alters the composition of the committee which, in accordance with section 5 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1983 , selects candidates for appointment to the office of Chairman of An Bord Pleanála. The Secretary of the Department of the Environment replaces the Chief Engineering Adviser of that Department, and the Chairperson of the Council for the Status of Women is added to the committee. |
