LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1994 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1994.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 (9) of the Local Government Act, 1994 (No. 8 of 1994), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act, 1994 , (Commencement) Order, 1994.

2. Part I (other than sections 1 (8), 4 (1) and 4 (2)), Part III (other than sections 18, 20, 22, 23 and 24) and section 66 of and the Third Schedule to the Local Government Act, 1994 shall come into operation generally on the 3rd day of May, 1994.

3. Section 4 (1) of and the First Schedule to the Local Government Act, 1994 shall come into operation on the 3rd day of May, 1994 to the extent specified in the Schedule to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation on 3rd May, 1994 certain provisions of the Local Government Act, 1994 relating to local elections.
