URBAN RENEWAL ACT, 1986 (DESIGNATED AREAS) (DUBLIN) ORDER, 1994.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6 (2) of the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (No. 19 of 1986), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Designated Areas) (Dublin) Order, 1994.

2. Each of the areas described in Part II and Part III of the Schedule to this Order is hereby declared to be a designated area for the purposes of the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 .

3. Each of the streets or parts of the streets described in Part IV of the Schedule to this Order is hereby declared to be a designated area for the purposes of the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 .

Schedule

Part I

In this Schedule--

"thoroughfare" includes any alley, avenue, bawn, bridge, court, diamond, hall, high water mark, hill, lane, market, parade, place, quay, river, road, row, square, strand, street, terrace, walk, wall and way;

a reference to a line drawn along any thoroughfare is a reference to a line drawn along the centre of that thoroughfare;

a reference to a projection of any thoroughfare is a reference to a projection of a line drawn along the centre of that thoroughfare;

a reference to the point where any thoroughfare or projection of any thoroughfare intersects or joins any other thoroughfare or projection of a thoroughfare is a reference to the point where a line drawn along the centre of one thoroughfare, or in the case of a projection of a thoroughfare, along the projection, would be intersected or joined by a line drawn along the centre of the other thoroughfare or, in the case of another projection of a thoroughfare, along the other projection;

a reference to a point where any thoroughfare is intersected by the projection of a boundary is a reference to the point where a line drawn along the centre of such thoroughfare would be interested by the projection of such boundary.

Part II

Description of Designated Area

George's Quay/Pearse Street Area

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Moss Street joins Georges Quay, then continuing in a westerly direction along Georges Quay and Burgh Quay to the point where it is joined by Hawkins Street, then continuing in a southerly direction along Hawkins Street and the southerly projection thereof to the point where it intersects Pearse Street, then continuing in a south-easterly direction along Pearse Street to the point where it is joined by Shaw Street, then continuing in a northerly direction along Shaw Street and Moss Street to the first-mentioned point.

Eccles Street Area

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Eccles Street joins Dorset Street Upper, then continuing in a southerly direction along Dorset Street Upper to the point where it is joined by St. Joseph's Parade, then continuing in a westerly direction along St. Joseph's Parade to the point where it joins Nelson Street, then continuing in a southerly direction along Nelson Street to the point where it joins Berkeley Street, then continuing in a north-westerly direction along Berkeley Street to the point where it is joined by Berkeley Avenue, then continuing initially in a northerly direction along Berkeley Avenue to the point where it is intersected by the south-western projection of the western boundary of No. 39 Eccles Street, then continuing in a north-easterly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and the north-easterly projection thereof to the point where it intersects Eccles Street, then continuing in a south-easterly direction along Eccles Street to the first-mentioned point.

Gardiner Street Lower/Amiens Street Area

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Store Street joins Amiens Street, then continuing in a north-easterly direction along Amiens Street to the point where Amiens Street, North Strand and Killarney Street meet, then continuing in a south-westerly direction along Killarney Street, Sean MacDermott Street and Gloucester Diamond to the point where it is joined by Gloucester Place Lower, then continuing in a southerly direction along Gloucester Place Lower to the point where it intersects Railway Street, then continuing in a westerly direction along Railway Street to the point where it joins Gardiner Street Lower, then continuing in a southerly direction along Gardiner Street Lower to the point where it joins Deverell Place, then continuing in a westerly direction along Deverell Place to the point where it joins the unnamed lane to the rere of Nos. 33-36 Gardiner Street and 12-17 Talbot Street, then continuing initially in a southerly direction and then in a westerly direction along the last-mentioned lane to its end, then continuing initially in a northerly direction along the eastern, northern and western boundaries of No. 11 Talbot Street, to the point where it joins the northern boundary of No. 10 Talbot Street, then continuing in a westerly direction along the last-mentioned boundary and the western projection thereof to the point where it interesects Marlborough Street, then continuing in a southerly direction along Marlborough Street to the point where it is joined by Marlborough Place, then continuing in an easterly direction along Marlborough Place and the easterly projection thereof to the point where it intersects Beresford Lane, then continuing initially in a southerly direction along Beresford Lane to the point where it joins Gardiner Street Lower, then continuing in a south-easterly direction along Gardiner Street Lower to the point where it joins Beresford Place, then continuing in an easterly direction along Beresford Place to the point where it joins Store Street, then continuing initially in a northerly and then easterly direction along Store Street to the first-mentioned point.

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Infirmary Road joins Parkgate Street, then continuing in an easterly direction along Parkgate Street to the point where it is joined by Temple Street West, then continuing in a northerly direction along Temple Street West to the point where it joins Montpelier Hill, then continuing in a westerly direction along Montpelier Hill to the point where it joins Infirmary Road, then continuing in a southerly direction along Infirmary Road to the first-mentioned point.

Benburb Street Area

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Benburb Street joins Wood Lane, then continuing in a northerly direction along Wood Lane to the point where it joins Hendrick Place, then continuing in an easterly direction along Hendrick Place to the point where it joins Blackhall Place, then continuing in a northerly direction along Blackhall Place to the point where it is intersected by the easterly projection of the southern boundary of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, then continuing initially in a westerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary to the point where it joins the eastern boundary of Collins Barracks, then continuing in a southerly direction along the said eastern boundary and the southerly projection thereof to the point where it intersects Benburb Street, then continuing in an easterly direction along Benburb Street to the first-mentioned point.

North Inner City Area

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Blackhall Place is intersected by the eastern projection of the northern boundary of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, then continuing in a westerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary to the point where it joins the western boundary of Collins Barracks, then continuing in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned boundary and the northern projection thereof to the point where it intersects Arbour Hill, then continuing initially in an easterly direction along Arbour Hill and Brunswick Street North to the point where it is intersected by the southern projection of the eastern boundary of No. 23 Brunswick Street North, then continuing initially in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and western boundary of the Richmond Hospital complex to the point where it That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where the northerly projection of the eastern boundary of No. 137 James Street intersects James Street, then continuing in a westerly direction along James Street and Bow Lane West to the point where it is intersected by the southerly projection of the western boundary wall of St. Patrick's Hospital, then continuing initially in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary wall to the point where the last-mentioned boundary wall turns in a westerly direction, then continuing in a north-westerly direction in a straight undefined line along the bridge over the Cammock River and Steevens' Hospital car park to the point where it intersects Military Road, then continuing initially in a southerly direction along Military Road and Irwin Street to the point where it joins Bow Bridge, then continuing in an easterly direction along Bow Bridge to the point where it is intersected by the Cammock River, then continuing initially in a south-westerly direction along the Cammock River to the point where it is intersected by the northern projection of the eastern boundary of the premises known as Burmah Garage on Mount Brown, then continuing in a southerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and the southern projection thereof to the point where it intersects Mount Brown, then continuing in an easterly direction along Mount Brown and James Street to the point where it is intersected by the southerly projection of the eastern boundary of No. 137 James Street, then continuing in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and the northerly projection thereof to the first-mentioned point.

Part III

East Wall Area

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where East Wall Road is joined by Tolka Quay Road, then continuing in an easterly direction along Tolka Quay Road to the point where it is joined by Bond Road, then continuing initially in a northerly direction along Bond Road and the north-easterly projection thereof to the point where it intersects the high-water mark of the southern side of the River Tolka, then continuing initially in a westerly direction along the said high-water mark to the point where it is intersected by the north-easterly projection of the south-eastern boundary of Tucks Fasteners Limited, then continuing in a south-westerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and the south-western projection thereof to the point where it intersects East Wall Road, then continuing in a south-easterly direction along East Wall Road to the first-mentioned point.

Grand Canal Docks Area

That part of the county borough of Dublin bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Sir John Rogerson's Quay is joined by Cardiff Lane, then continuing in a southerly direction along Cardiff Lane and Macken Street to the point where it is intersected by the railway track, then continuing in a south-easterly direction along the said railway track to the point where it intersects Grand Canal Quay, then continuing in a southerly direction along Grand Canal Quay to the point where it joins Grand Canal Street Lower, then continuing in an easterly direction along Grand Canal Street Lower and Grand Canal Street Upper to the point where it is joined by Barrow Street, then continuing in a northerly direction along Barrow Street to the point where it is intersected by the railway track, then continuing in a westerly direction along the said railway track to the point where it intersects the western boundary of the Grand Canal Basin, then continuing in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned boundary and the northerly projection thereof to the point where it intersects Hanover Quay, then continuing in an easterly direction along Hanover Quay to the point where it is joined by Benson Street, then continuing in a northerly direction along Benson Street to the point where it joins Sir John Rogerson's Quay, then continuing in a westerly direction along Sir John Rogerson's Quay to the first-mentioned point.
