I, Ivan Yates, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Decision No. 96/362/EC (1) of 11 June 1996 as far as bovine semen is concerned, hereby make the following Regulations:-- |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Importation of Bovine Animals and Products obtained from Bovine Animals from the United Kingdom) (Amendment) Regulations, 1996. |
||
|
2. The European Communities (Importation of Bovine Animals and Products obtained from Bovine Animals from the United Kingdom) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 87 of 1996 ) are hereby amended by the substitution of the following for subparagraph (b) of Regulation 3:-- |
||
|
"(b) embryos from bovine animals;". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||
|
These Regulations implement Commission Decision No. 96/362/EC of 11 June 1996 as far as bovine semen is concerned by removing the prohibition on the importation of that product from the United Kingdom. |
