MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES (INCREASED PAYMENT) REGULATIONS, 1996. |

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 5 and section 44 (sub-section 5) of of the Health Act, 1947 , (No. 28 of 1947), hereby makes the following regulations:- |

Citation | ||
1. These regulations may be cited as the Maintenance Allowances (Increased Payment) Regulations, 1996. |
||
Rate of Payment | ||
2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to payment under sub-section (3) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 166 of 1996 ), any amount so payable in respect of the week commencing on the 2nd December, 1996 to or in respect of himself or his dependants shall be increased by a sum equal to seventy per cent of that amount or £20.00 whichever is the greater. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||
The effect of these Regulations is to increase, in respect of the week commencing the 2nd December, 1996 the maximum weekly rate of maintenance allowance payable under section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 by a sum equal to seventy per cent of that amount or £20.00, whichever is the greater. |
