CONTROL OF HORSES ACT, 1996 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1997

I, JIMMY DEENIHAN, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Control of Horses Act, 1996 (No. 37 of 1996), and the Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 65 of 1997 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Horses Act, 1996 (Commencement) Order, 1997.

2. (1) The 18th day of March, 1997, is hereby appointed as the day on which the Control of Horses Act, 1996 (No. 37 of 1996), other than Part IV thereof, shall come into operation.

(2) The 5th day of March, 1997, is hereby appointed as the day on which Part IV of the Control of Horses Act, 1996 , shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order appoints 18th March, 1997, as the day on which the Control of Horses Act, 1996 (No. 37 of 1996), other than Part IV thereof, comes into operation and also appoints 5th March, 1997, as the day on which Part IV of the Control of Horses Act, 1996 , comes into operation.
