S.I. No. 376/1997:

REFUGEE ACT, 1996 (SECTION 22 (6)(a) ) (DESIGNATED COUNTRIES) ORDER, 1997

REFUGEE ACT, 1996 (SECTION 22 (6)(a) ) (DESIGNATED COUNTRIES) ORDER, 1997

I, Ray Burke T.D., Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 22(6) (a) of the Refugee Act, 1996 (No. 17 of 1996), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Refugee Act, 1996 (Section 22(6) (a) ) (Designated Countries) Order, 1997.

2. Each of the countries specified hereunder is hereby designated a Party to the Convention determining the state responsible for examining applications for asylum lodged in one of the Member States of the European Communities, done at Dublin on the 15th day of June, 1990 (The Dublin Convention):

Austria, Belgium. Denmark, France, Greece, The Federal Republic of Germany, Ireland, Italy, The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

3. This Order shall come into operation on the 13th day of September 1997.

Given under my official seal at Dublin this 12th day of September, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order designates the countries which are Parties to the Dublin Convention determining the state responsible for examining applications for asylum lodged in one of the Member States of the European Communities.
