BRAY URBAN DISTRICT LOCAL ELECTORAL AREAS ORDER, 1998

BRAY URBAN DISTRICT LOCAL ELECTORAL AREAS ORDER, 1998

The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 24 of the Local Government Act, 1994 (No. 8 of 1994), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Bray Urban District Local Electoral Areas Order, 1998.

2. In this Order "the Urban District" means the Urban District of Bray as altered for the purposes of local elections by the Local Government (Boundaries) (Town Elections) Regulations, 1994 ( S.I. No. 114 of 1994 ) and references to the urban boundary shall be construed accordingly.

3. (1) The Urban District of Bray shall be divided into the local electoral areas which are named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Each such local electoral area shall consist of the area set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the council of the Urban District of Bray to be elected for each such local electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of that local electoral area.

4. (1) A reference in the Schedule to this Order to a line drawn along any road, street, lane, bridge or river shall be construed as a reference to an imaginary line drawn along the centre of such road, street, lane, bridge or river.

(2) A reference in the Schedule to this Order to the point at which any road, street, lane, bridge or river intersects or joins any other road, street, lane, bridge or river shall be construed as a reference to the point at which an imaginary line drawn along the centre of one would be intersected or joined by an imaginary line drawn along the centre of the other.

(3) A reference in the Schedule to this Order to the point at which any road, street, lane, bridge or river intersects or joins a boundary shall be construed as a reference to the point at which an imaginary line drawn along the centre of such road, street, lane, bridge or river would intersect or join such boundary.

5. The Bray Urban District Local Electoral Areas Order, 1994 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1994 ) is hereby revoked.

Commencing at the intersection of the northern boundary of the urban district by the Dublin Road; thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along Dublin Road, Castle Street, Bray Bridge, Main Street and Killarney Road to its junction with Killarney Lane; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along Killarney Lane to its junction with Herbert Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Herbert Road to its intersection by the imaginary south-easterly projection of the north-eastern boundary of the curtilage of Ardmore Studios; thence in a north-westerly direction along the said imaginary projection and the said boundary to its junction with the north-western boundary of the said curtilage; thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along the last-mentioned boundary to its intersection by the northern boundary of the townland of Kilbride; thence commencing in a westerly direction and proceeding along the said boundary to its junction with the River Dargle; thence in a south-westerly direction along the River Dargle to its intersection by the Lower Dargle Bridge; thence in a north-westerly direction along the Lower Dargle Bridge and its imaginary north-westerly projection to its intersection by the urban boundary; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along the urban boundary (as altered for the purposes of local elections by the Local Government (Boundaries) (Town Elections) Regulations, 1994) to the starting point.
Bray Number Two That part of the Urban District situated within a line drawn as follows: -- 3
Commencing at the intersection of the northern boundary of the urban district by the Dublin Road; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along the urban boundary to its junction with Vevay Road; thence in a north-westerly direction along Vevay Road to its junction with Main Street; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along Main Street, Bray Bridge, Castle Street and Dublin Road to the starting point.
Bray Number Three That part of the Urban District situated within a line drawn as follows: -- 6
Commencing at the junction of Killarney Road and Vevay Road: thence in a south-easterly direction along Vevay Road to its junction with the urban boundary; thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along the urban boundary (as altered for the purposes of local elections by the Local Government (Boundaries) (Town Elections) Regulations, 1994) to its intersection by the imaginary north-westerly projection of the Lower Dargle Bridge; thence in a south-easterly direction along the said imaginary projection and the said bridge to its intersection by the River Dargle; thence in a north-easterly direction along the River Dargle to its junction with the northern boundary of the townland of Kilbride; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along the said boundary to the point where it intersects the north-western boundary of the curtilage of Ardmore Studios; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along the said boundary to its junction with the north-eastern boundary of the said curtilage; thence in a south-easterly direction along the last-mentioned boundary and its imaginary south-easterly projection to its intersection by Herbert Road; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along Herbert Road to its junction with Killarney Lane; thence commencing in an easterly direction and proceeding along Killarney Lane to its junction with Killarney Road; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along Killarney Road to the starting point.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amend the division of the Urban District of Bray into local electoral areas and to fix the number of members to be elected for each electoral area.
