EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (PROCESSING OF MAMMALIAN ANIMAL WASTE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1999. |

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 ( No. 27 of 1972 ) hereby make the following Regulations:-- |

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Processing of Mammalian Animal Waste) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999. |
||||||||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 5th day of July, 1999. |
||||||||
(3) The European Communities (Processing of Mammalian Animal Waste) Regulations, 1998 and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Processing of Mammalian Animal Waste) Regulations, 1998 and 1999. |
||||||||
2. Regulation 3 of the European Communities (Processing of Mammalian Animal Waste) Regulations, 1998 is hereby amended in paragraphs (a)(ii) by the deletion of the words “and (iii)” after the words “Article 7 (ii)”. |

These Regulations have been introduced to ensure that by-products, collected by intermediaries, which are subsequently fed to animals whose flesh is not intended for human consumption, must be processed to the time, temperature and pressure parameters set out in the 1998 Regulations. |
